Wow, Webcomics Weekend was a lot more fun than I was expecting!  I ended up coming home with hundreds of dollars worth of books and merch (which is awesome but also very sad in a way — especially for my wallet), and I made a lot of new friends.
But this was primarily a business trip, so I was pimping out my iPhone app as much as I could.  I was very happy with the reception it got!  People were (as expected) skeptical of the idea at first, but after I showed them my demo movie and told them the unique ideas I had for the app, the reaction was almost always very positive!  I think they could tell that I was a sincere fan of the medium, and I just wanted to make an app that I believe would be a compelling experience on the iPhone, and just something that I would want to use myself.
I walked away from the convention extremely excited about the possibilities, and I can’t wait to release the free version of our app as soon as possible.  To the creators I met at the convention — you’ll be hearing more from me as it gets closer to release!
Highlights:
Randomly meeting Rosscott (The System) on the flight to Hartford, then hanging out with him, Darren (Dernwerks), and Zach Weiner (Saturday Morning Breakfast Cereal)in the airport and flight back home.
Chatting it up with Jorge Cham of PhD Comics and having him be the first webcomic creator to really latch on to my iPhone idea.  He kept telling his friends, “Hey you gotta see see this guy’s iPhone stuff, I think it’s really good.” Thank you very much, sir!
Experiencing the live Webcomics Weekly podcast panel. Incredibly entertaining, and the crowd was very into it.
Having all the webcomics artists contribute to my “cupcake” themed sketchbook.  You’ll be seeing my favorites posted here soon. :)
Talking iPhone stuff with R. Stevens of Diesel Sweeties and having him really like my iPhone app!  He even offered to help me out with the contract documents when we get to it.
Danielle Corsetto of Girls with Slingshots offering me her business card after I showed her my iPhone stuff.  I said, “Oh I already have one, I took one from your table here.”  She replied, “Nono, let me give you my REAL business card, it has my cell number on it.”  You’re the best, Danielle!
