The first thing I did when I heard of his passing was watch the 9 minute music video for “Remember the Time”. I loved how so many of his videos were theatrical in nature, and they were always incredibly entertaining. “Beat It”, “Smooth Criminal”, “Scream”, “Black or White”… and who can deny the genius that is “Thriller”?
Rest in peace, King of Pop.

I JUST discovered this and I am absolutely, positively in love with it. Who knew this was even around?? The original’s great and all, but I love how Ximena changes up the melody in her verses. And how beautiful is she? My gosh. New favorite song on repeat.

I’m a little sick of Michael Cera these days, but this qausi-documentary slash meta-love story with his real life girlfriend Charlyne Yi looks too adorable to miss. I’m a sucker for this stuff, man.
With this and “(500) Days of Summer” coming out, I think I’ve filled my mushy quota for the summer.
Zee Avi - “Bitter Heart”
Seriously, I cannot get enough of this girl. Every time I’m in the car, I gravitate toward her album in my iPod and sing along like a giddy little schoolboy. Simple, catchy, beautiful music, like it was made just for me.
I’m really happy I got to meet her in Charlottesville as well, when she performed with Uncle Jemima at the Tea Bazaar. AND I come to find out that we use the same Martin Ellipse guitar. Obviously, we’re meant to be together.
Uncle Jemima -“Vancouver”
I was introduced to Kyle Woolard, aka Uncle Jemima, through my friend Gina this summer. Kyle is a singer/songwriter with incredibly good guitar skills. Check out this video I caught of him at a show in Charlottesville. “Vancouver” is probably my favorite of his songs. It’s not in his debut CD release, but I hope it gets recorded in the studio soon. :)
I ran the Race for the Cure 5k this weekend! This was my second year doing it, and my personal goal this time was to run the whole race without stopping. Mission accomplished, and with a decent time at that! Even better, our impromptu reward to ourselves for finishing the race was DIM SUM in Arlington! Couldn’t ask for a more delicious meal that day.
Thanks so much to Vee and Ari for running it with me. We did it!! Next year, the “Breast Designers in Town” are gonna have our own t-shirts! :)
Hanging out with Kuya Ej, Melanie, and Ate Gen at the Waterfront in DC. ‘Twas a very fun night of catching up and reminiscing, cousin-style. I cannot wait til the reunion in August!
